Abstract

562,970. Flanging ; corrugating. GRUNDY, J. E. April 9, 1943, No. 5694. [Class 83 (iv)] A tube flanger comprises a body part a, die parts d in holders pivoted at a<1> on the body, and a rubber plug h which can be expanded radially in the tube t by axial pressure. This may be applied by a headed pin g screwed into a slide moved axially in the body by a handoperated nut n. When expanding a tube t to form an end flange, as shown, the body a may carry a nose f to engage the plug. This plug is shaped so that it grips the tube where it cannot expand before it engages the part to be expanded. When an intermediate bulge is required the die and plug are modified to correspond. A handle b and hand-operated screw clamp q for the dies are provided.
