562,906. Sewing - machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). Feb. 6, 1943, No. 2018. [Class 112] [Also in Group XXXIV] The race of a vertical axis rotary hook 11 is lubricated by oil passing from a sight-feed lubricator above the level of the hook by a pipe 39 to a recess 28 in the lower end of the hook shaft. Hence it passes under centrifugal force in an inclined bore 29 and radial bore 30 to the hook race. A fixed stem 32 entering the recess 28 completes the pipe line 39 and has a wick filling 38. The outside of the stem has a helical thread 33 which cooperates with the wall of the recess 28 to prevent passage of oil downwards when the machine is running. When the machine is still, oil passing through the wick 38 drains freely down the thread 33 to an outlet 37. Specifications 557,094 and 557,096 are referred to.
