562,663. Invertible ploughs. RANSOMES, SIMS, & JEFFERIES, Ltd.., CHALLACOMBE, A., and POPE, R. H. Jan. 22, 1943, No. 1155. [Class 6 (i)] A multi-furrow invertible plough comprises two sets of plough bodies 7, 8, carried by a frame 6 rotatable about a longitudinal beam 1 to bring either set into operation, land and furrow wheels 3, 4 on a fore-carriage 2, and a rear wheel 5 which can be lowered to support the frame when on a headland or during transport. The wheels 3, 4 are mounted on cranked axles 14 independently supported in bearings. Lifting gear for the wheels 3, 4 comprises claws 18 each engageable with a pin-wheel on the associated wheel 3, 4, and mounted on a shaft 19 having a lever 23 pulled by a cord 68 from the tractor. Each axle 14 has a lever 24 pivoted to a latch-bar 25 with a slot 25<1> sliding on a pin projecting from a bracket 28 on the carriage 2. Each latch has a locking recess 29 disengageable by cams on a cross-shaft operable by a cord 64 connected to the tractor. A stop on the plough frame 6 limits the fall of one of the wheels 3, 4 when the latches are released. The rear wheel 5 is connected bv linkwork 46, 47, 48, a lever 50 and a rod which runs through the beam 1 to a lever on one of the axles 14. Swivelling of the rear wheel while it is supporting the plough is prevented by the engagement of a vertical pin with a groove in a cup 58 formed in one with the boss 41.
