[Class 6 (i)] In a plough having separate frames on opposite sides of the central axis of the machine, and so mounted that each frame can be raised out of the ploughing position, each frame is hinged so that it . can tilt laterally relatively to the other frame so that the frame in use is substantially parallel to the ground irrespective of the position of the other frames. The frames 1, 2, Fig. 3, carrying shares &c. not shown, are each pivoted at 15 to a plate 14 carrying the bearing 9 for an axle 8 the cranked end of which carries the furrow wheel 5. The axles 8 are independent of each other and are held together by a sleeve 10. The forward end of each frame can be raised, by power derived from the wheels 5, by moving a lever 19, Fig. 5, so as to engage a rack 17, pivoted on the plate 14, with a pinion 16 rigid with the wheel 5. The forward movement of the plough causes the rack to move the crank axle 8 downwards and lift the forward end of the frame. A lever 11, rigid with axle 8, is connected by a chain 12 with the forward end of the frame and by a chain 28 to the upper end of the pivot 6 of the rear castor wheel 4, the chain passing round a pulley so as to raise the rear end of the frame. To provide additional support for the rear end of the plough, chains 29, Fig. 3, connect the lower end of the pivot pin 6 of each frame with the upper end of the pin 6 of the other frame. Adjustment for depth of ploughing of the inner shares of each frame is effected by a screw and nut 30, 32 which controls a bearing block for the axle 8. The outer shares are adjusted by a screw 34 engaging a pillar 35 on the plate 14. The draw-bar may comprise members 38 of equal length pivoted to each frame, or the two members may be rigidly attached to each other by means of a gusset plate. Fig. 4 (not shown).
