Abstract

779,836. Agricultural implements. CASH, J. R. Oct. 27, 1954 [Nov. 4, 1953], No. 31028/54. Class 6(1). Apparatus for attaching a plough to the three point linkage or a tractor comprises means whereby the rear supporting wheel of the plough remains in contact with the ground when the plough is lifted, the plough moving about a vertical pivot so that it will follow the tractor along curved paths. As shown the lower lift links 7 of a tractor pivotally carry a slotted bar 8 to which is slidably attached a bolster plate 10 which slides on a plate 11 attached to the bracket 19 which houses a pivot pin 12. Attached to the bracket 19 so that it can be adjusted laterally and pivoted in a vertical plane is a transverse member 24 which through the member 29 and the rod 4 pivotally carries the front end of the plough. The upper lift link 6 is connected to an extension 15 of the pivot pin 12 and is arranged so that the pin is vertical when raised. At the rear end of the plough the supporting wheel 5 is mounted on an axle attached to a vertical member 36 which is slidable and rotatable in a bearing 38 and the linkage 42, 39 which is adjustable automatically steers the rear wheel as the plough moves about the pivot 12. When the plough is in working position, the rear wheel supports the plough through two shoulders 54, 55 being in contact. The depth of ploughing is controlled by the lift links to which is attached a depth gauge. For transporting the implement, the lift links operate a Bowden cable 59 which lowers the rear wheel through the linkage 56 and bell-crank 51 so that the rear of the plough is raised. In an alternative method of lowering the rear wheel, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown) a hydraulic ram is provided and is controlled by a valve which is operated by the lift links.
