Abstract

561,814. Furnace walls, roofs &c. BENNIS COMBUSTION, Ltd., and BENNIS, A. W. Dec. 22,1942, No. 18167. [Class 51 (i)] Furnace walls, roofs, arches and the like are formed of fluid cooled tubes A, Figs. 2 and 3, provided with fins C to form a support for refractory blocks D. The blocks D may have curved sides engaging with the tubes and portions E extending between the tubes. The fins are inclined to a plane passing through the axes of the tubes and engage with recesses formed in the curved sides of the blocks. A gap may be formed in the fins to permit insertion of the blocks. Fig. 4 shows a section of a tubular arch with the blocks D applied to curved tubes A, the fins C extending to within a short distance of a flange H to permit insertion of the blocks after which the spaces between the uppermost blocks and the flanges H are filled with plastic refractory material.
