Abstract
533,291. Furnace walls &c. BENNIS COMBUSTION, Ltd., and BENNIS, A. W. July 10, 1939, No. 20005. [Class 51 (i)] In furnace walls or arches comprising water tubes B, front and rear walls embrace the tubes consisting respectively of bricks A in the front wall and bricks C in the rear walls, the bricks A being locked in position by the bricks C. The outer faces of the bricks A, C lie in planes parallel to the plane of the tubes B. The inner faces of the bricks A are recessed to engage the tubes B and lie in planes passing through the centres of the tubes, at an angle tangential to adjacent tubes and to the front faces of the bricks. The end faces of these bricks are at right angles to the inner faces and inclined to the front faces. The bricks C have 'their end faces at right angles to their outer faces the length of which is equal to the pitch of the tubes. The inner face of each brick C is reversed at the ends to fit the tubes B and has a projection F which engages with a V-shaped recess formed at one end of the inner face of the brick A. The wall E' of this recess is at right angles to the outer faces of the bricks A, C and the wall E<SP>2</SP> is in line with the inner faces thereof. The bricks A are thus locked by the bricks C and by removing a brick C its associated brick A may be removed.
