Abstract

477,131. Furnace walls and arches. DETRICK CO., Ltd., M. H. April 16, 1937, No. 10931. Convention date, Jan. 7. [Class 51 (i)] A furnace wall or arch is built of an outer layer of tiles of an ordinary refractory and an inner layer of high grade refractory, all of the tiles having intermeshing projections and depressions, and the tiles of the inner layer being of two thicknesses which are alternated in a course. In the suspended arch shown the outer layer is formed of alternating short and long tiles 1, 1<1>, and the long tiles 1<1> intermesh with and support the long tiles 2 of the inner layer, and these in turn support the short tiles 2<1>. The tiles are so formed that a projection on one face corresponds with a depression on the opposite face.
