Abstract

560,860. Aerial bombs. UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and CHARLES, A. March 26, 1941, No. 4092. [Class 9 (i)] Antend fitting for the tail unit of an aerial bomb is formed as a metal pressing from sheet metal instead of as a machining from a solid bar. The end fitting c is pressed from sheet metal with a conical front portion whereby it is joined to the tail a and the outer portion flanged inwardly at d and intumed at e to constitute a bearing for the arming spindle f. This spindle carries vane h at its rear end and a clutch g at its forward end to actuate the arming mechanism as the shaft is rotated by the vane.
