560,508. Compound fabrics. JANVIER, G. Jan. 18, 1943, No. 890. [Class 140] [Also. in Group XIV.] Resilient compound sheet material for upholstery padding, cushions, seats &c. comprises two or more layers of uncut pile fabric and one or more layers of felt, all the layers being cut to approximately the same shape, superimposed one upon another, and secured together. The uncut pile fabric consists of two sheets of woven fabric which are interconnected face to face by pile yarns woven into them. The layers 1 of uncut pile fabric and 2 of felt may alternate, or, for a deep cushion, the felt layers, united by an adhesive, or interconnected by needling, may be confined to the lower part of the cushion, and the upper part built up entirely from layers of uncut pile fabric. The felt layers may be formed with apertures 3, and the apertures in adjacent layers may be staggered to form closed cells. A cellular structure may also be provided by alternating sheets of uncut pile fabric with a layer or layers composed of spaced strips of uncut pile fabric, or composed of spaced posts built up of small sections of uncut pile fabric superimposed and connected together.
