Abstract

<PICT:0831732/IV (a)/1> <PICT:0831732/IV (a)/2> A sheet 1 of foamed plastics material, preferably nylon, has slits cut therein so that when the sheet is distended apertures 4 separated by ribs 3 are produced. Preferably the slits 2 are formed in staggered rows as in Fig. 3 and the sheets may be coated with paper or fabric or by uncut slabs of the same or another plastics material, preferably foamed. The sheets may be used for upholstery padding, packing material or carpet underlay and distended sheets may be superposed in crossed relation as in Fig. 1 to form a cushion squab.
