Abstract

557,504. Pads for helmets. JANVIER, G. E. Sept. 3, 1942, No. 12436. [Class 63] [Also in Group XIV] Resilient pads for the linings of crash helmets, are formed of uncut pile fabric assembled in plies to provide spaced posts 7, Fig. 5 or intersecting partitions 1, Fig. 2, separated by air cells, the whole being covered by layers of the same fabric or other material. The plies of the intersecting partitions are arranged to break joint. In a modification intersecting partitions may be formed of one or more plies of the material on edge, the corners being strengthened by posts of layers of the material. The fibres of the pile may be of mohair, wool or artificial silk.
