Abstract

A cellular rubber structure containing fibres, for upholstery, is made by coating fibres with a stiffening medium, which may be rubber deposited from latex, arranging them in open loosely associated condition, in which they are preferably held by the coating, introducing into the interstices between the fibres an aqueous dispersion of rubber, and forming from the dispersion a cellular rubber structure. The term rubber includes analogous hydrocarbons, natural or artificial. The mass may be shaped by hand or in a mould to form upholstery pads, or may be in the form of a continuous web which can be cut to shape. Specification 448,122 is referred to.
