Abstract
559,279. Upholstery &c. pads. JANVIER, G. E. Oct. 3, 1942, No. 13906. [Class 52 (iv)] Resilient padding formed of uncut pile fabric assembled in layers 1 and spaced posts 4, Fig. 1, to provide air cells, as in Specification 557,504, is enclosed at the sides by material 1 of felted cloth, leather or of paper in the form of a sewn case, to lessen sidewise bending movement of the mohair or other intervening fibres. The lower part of the pad may consist of superposed layers from which round or square post-like parts 4 are cut, leaving cells 3, the removed material being assembled as spaced pillars above the lower layers. A shaped pad, Fig. 2, may be formed by employing spaced strips 6, 7 and posts 8. Upper and lower layers 5, 2a of the pad may be of felt or felted cloth.
