Abstract
560,470. Trousers. TOBIAS, J. J. Oct. 1, 1942, No. 13769. [Class 141] In trousers, &c. of the kind having an extensible waistband which is divided in the region of the hips and in which the front and back sections of the trousers are divided at the upper ends of the side seams, to facilitate extension of the waistband, the side seam 2 of the back section 1 has attached to it a bearer strip 3 to the forward edge of which is sewn an elastic strip 7, the forward edge of which is sewn to the rear edge 6a of a facing strip 6 fitted to the rear edge of the inner part of a side pocket 5. The extensible waistband may be constructed in any desired manner. As shown, the waisband 9 is divided at the hips and formed with tunnels 10 to accommodate lengths of elastic 11 having end tabs which ride in the tunnels 10. In a modified construction, the strip 7 lies wholly beneath the rear portion of the front part of the pocket.
