Abstract
560,249. Collapsable trucks. BATE, B. D. Jan. 21, 1943, No. 1079. [Class 108 (i)] A collapsable hand-propelled truck comprises two side members, each having hinged parts a and b and a bracing tubular member d pivoted to lugs on collars, one, e<1>, secured to part band the other, f, slidable on part a, which has a handle g at one end and a stub axle h at the other end for a wheel. A canvas load-carrying body has four pockets for receiving supporting cross-members n, secured between the two side members by nuts s and fitting into slotted lugs on the members a, b, the lugs being recessed at m, as shown in Fig. 7, to receive tapered parts of the cross-members n; the nuts p have the form of a hand wheel and are provided with a cross-slit q and a recess r to lock the nut ; a retaining cross-pin s is provided. The canvas body is attached to the bracing members d by strips. After removal of members n from the canvas, the side members are folded and a bundle made up together with the canvas and members n with the handles g at one end and the wheels at the other for shock-absorbing when the bundle is dropped by a parachute attached to the handles.
