Abstract
559,975. Mounting bodies on vehicle underframes. DENNIS, BROS., Ltd., and LUCY, B. Sept. 17, 1942, No. 13107. [Classes 108 (i), 108 (ii) and 108 (iii)] A tank for carrying milk, fuel or other chemicals, is supported on a road-vehicle chassis at least at one place, on opposite sides of the tank, by floating bush units which are in turn directly supported from the rear spring brackets. As shown, the tank rests on a cross-bearer 13 carrying, at each end, plates which support a bolt 16 forming the centre pin of a floating bush unit, e.g. such as is known under the Registered Trade Mark "Silentbloc", and the housing 17 of the unit is integral with a bracket 18 secured to the longitudinal 11 and having aligned holes 19 for supporting a pin to which one end of the adjacent rear laminated spring can be anchored. The brackets at the other ends of the rear springs may support in like manner a second bearer for the tank but the other bearers are supported directly from the chassis longitudinals through rubber bush units. The centre pins 16 of pairs of different units may be attached to the brackets or to the tank and may be arranged transversely of the vehicle.
