Underframing of bodies; springs, arrangement of.-In order to prevent transmission of vibrations through the underframe of a railway vehicle to the vehicle body, indiarubber blocks or pads are associated with the stressed girder system of the underframe. In the construction shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the longitudinal tension rods 5 are connected at their ends to the girders 4 by means of a number of brackets 7 fixed to the girders 4 and co-operating with a number of rubber pads 8. Each pad 8 is provided with a central boss 9 surrounding the rod 5 and projecting into an aperture in the bracket 7 and with a lip extending between the girder 4 and a clamping plate 11, the ends of the rods 5 being screwthreaded to receive nuts 12 for securing the plates 11. Each of the strut members 6, Fig. 2, may have a bracket portion 13, Fig. 7, to which the tension rods 5 are connected by eyes 15, and be attached to a common transverse channelsectioned girder 17, between which and a transverse beam 19 is disposed a pad of rubber 18.
