Abstract
558,630. Electrically heated garments. GOLDSTAUB, H. H. July 10, 1942, No. 9595. [Class 39 (iii)] In electrically heated garments, the fabric formed by knitting is provided with a flexible conductor knitted into it, e.g. between the fibrous strands. The conductor may be single or stranded, and may be insulated. The garment, e.g. a glove or sock, may be produced by a knitting operation, incorporating the heating element, or a knitted piece of the required shape may be incorporated as a lining. The wire may be of copper-nickel alloy of 40 gauge, and may be interposed as a row of loops in the fabric. The fabric adjacent to the wire may incorporate asbestos yarn. Rectangular mats or jackets for liquid containers may be similarly constructed.
