Abstract
604,766. Electrically heated fabrics &c. DOWSING CO. (ELECTRICAL MANUFACTURERS), Ltd., CLARK, E. W., and CRIPPS, F. W. J. July 20, 1945, No. 18678. [Class 39(iii)] [Also in Group VII] Bare resistance wire is sewn to fabric, paper, leather, rubber, asbestos, glass or felt by a thread of insulating material with a lockstitch zig-zag sewing machine to form garments, boots, heating pads, blankets, furniture upholstery or covers for aircraft equipment. The wire 3 resting on one face of the fabric and the thread 2 on the other side looped through the fabric over the wire at each angle. Straight lines of zig-zag sewing connected by curved lines or spiral curves may be formed with similar loops through closely woven cotton fabric. The wires are of stainless steel or nickel chrome and are more closely spaced at intervals. Cotton tape 4 may be simultaneously sewn to the fabric above or below the wire, or may be folded over the wire and again sewn at 8. Strips 5 of metal gauze or foil form terminal elements also sewn to the tape and fabric.
