558,529. Electrically heating gases. BYLOCK ELECTRIC, Ltd., and STORY, A. L. July 6, 1942, No. 9323. [Class 39 (iii)] A casing a is provided with a motor and fan c which delivers air, gas or vapour downwardly to a heater comprising a sheet metal conical cage d with spaced slots e supporting the heating element. The lower end of the cage is attached to a nozzle h, and the upper end to insulating discs f, g, the latter carrying plug terminals j, j<SP>1</SP>. Alternate slots e are bridged by clips o of channel section. which receive the inner edges of mica strips p, the outer edges being notched or perforated to receive a resistance heater of plain or coiled form. The downward air current surrounds the heater and passes inwardly through it to the nozzle outlet. An alternative heater consists of a strip s, Fig. 5, supported in inclined notches in the mica strips p, so that the coiled resistance forms an annular louvre for the air.
