Abstract

557,859. Treating textile fabrics with steam. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E. I., and POESL, C. N. June 5, 1942, No. 7662. [Class 15 (i)] An apparatus for treating textile fabrics in web or rope form with a heating medium, e.g. steam comprises a number of side by side tubes 11, 12 opening into chambers 20, 36, 40 through which chambers and tubes the fabric 18 is fed over pulleys 14, 15, 16, the steam being admitted through a conduit 50 and perforated distribution pipe 54 near the top of the tube 11. All the chambers are fitted with doors giving access thereto and the chamber 20 has an exit flue pipe 22, the steam from the inlet 50 traversing the tubes in a direction opposite to that of the fabric and being restricted from movement in the opposite direction by the partial closure lip 55 at the bottom of the chamber 36.
