557,179. Proofing against water, petrol &c. COWAN, A. M. March 14, 1942, No. 3401. [Class 140] A composition for proofing asbestos millboard against water, petrol &c. comprises 60 to 80 parts by weight of a mixture of approximately equal proportions of a boiled drying oil such as linseed oil and an unboiled drying oil, 18 to 27 parts by weight of a drying solvent boiling between 285‹ and 395‹F., e.g., white spirit and 8-12 parts by weight of a solution of a water-insoluble metallic soap in an organic solvent in the proportions 3 to 5 parts solvent to one part soap. The asbestos millboard may be mounted on a metal core, the material passed through a bath of the coating composition, squeezed between rollers, dried and then stored for 40 minutes at 240‹F.
