556,898. Friction grip fastenings. EVANS, W. J. Feb. 23, 1942, No. 390. [Class 44] [Also in Group XXII] Tools, such as scribing tools, trammels, or cramps, comprising a bar and two members mounted on it, one of which engages the work, or carries a pen, spike, cramp, jaw or other work-engaging element, and one of which is adjustable along the bar; are characterized in that the adjustable member comprises two parts having interengaging eccentrics which are slidably transfixed by the bar, relative rotation of the two parts clamping the adjustable member to the bar. As shown, for a scribing tool, a bar 10 carries a scribing point 12 and a collar 11. The latter is in two parts 11a, 11b, and an eccentric projection 113 on part 11b enters an eccentric recess 13 on the part 11a. Relative rotation of the parts 11a, 11b clamps the collar 11 in adjusted position. In the case of a cramp one of the parts of the collar 11 carries a cramp jaw, the other jaw being carried by a member having a screwed connection with the bar 10. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 12290/94, [Class 44], and 13810/05, [Class 61].
