Abstract

581,670. Pliers; clamps. JENKINS, W. T. G. Oct. 10, 1944, No. 19525. [Class 61 (ii)] A clamping device comprises a base block 2 with or without a projecting handle 1 and having a notch 3 in which can be anchored the end of a clamping lever 6, an operating lever 4 pivoted at 5 to the base block and a springy link connection 9 pivoted at 8 to the operating lever 4 and at 10 to the clamping lever 6, the parts operating with a toggle return when lever 4 is depressed to grip the work between the block and the adjustable end 7 of the clamping lever 6. The block has a reversible gripping face 12 which may be arranged to project outwardly for gripping angled work.
