556,627. Setting saws. FRIZZEL, R. F. May 11, 1942, No. 6381. [Class 145 (ii)] A hand - operated saw-setting device comprises a body portion 12 provided with a handle 13, another handle 23 pivoted to the body 12, and devices for clamping a saw blade to the body and for setting a saw tooth both actuated by pressing the handles together. The body is provided with a flat face 14 against which a saw blade can be clamped by the front end of a pivoted jaw 16. The tail end of the jaw 16 is connected by a plunger 26 and a spring 36 with the handle 23. The front end of this handle is connected to a plunger 38 that slides throught the body and is provided at its upper end with a recessed portion having an inclined face 47 that co-operates with a small projection 44. In use, a saw blade 56 is placed against the face 14 with a tooth between the bifurcated end 53 of an adjustable gauge 51. By pressing the handles 13, 23 together, the jaw 18 is caused to clamp the blade 56 against the face 14, and the part 47 of the plunger 38 engages the saw tooth and bends its down into contact with the projection 44.
