Abstract

556,244. Nails. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., COLEMAN, G., and HATFIELD, S. J. March 23, 1942, No. 3796 [Class 89 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] Nails, especially those for boots and shoes,have points formed by converging faces 11 which meet centrally of the shank in an edge 13 extending across it. Such points are formed without removal of metal. The nail has a rectangular shank 1 with projections 9 and a pyramidal head 5. The point is formed by chisel edged dies 15, Fig. 3 forming part of a nail-making machine, metal displaced forming burrs 19 that assist the projections 9 in retaining the nail in material. Specification 509,312 is referred to.
