Abstract

210,454. Stronach, H. S., and Rowan, R. C. Jan. 26, 1923, [Convention date]. Nails.-To avoid splitting wood &c. into which it is driven, a nail is stepped towards the entering-end, the surface of which is at right-angles to the axis of the nail, and is smaller in area than the cross-section thereof. The entering- end 18 is symmetrically disposed about the axis of the nail and the steps 19 may be replaced by laterally sloping surfaces merging into the sides of the nail. The lateral faces at the entering-end may be concave or convex.
