555,537. Switchboards. ARROW ELECTRIC SWITCHES, Ltd. Jan. 5, 1942, No. 9084/43. Convention date, Jan. 15, 1941. Divided out of 555,511. [Class 38 (v)] A multiple circuit-breaker comprises a base 10 with flat sides and bottom, provided with cavities 12 ... 15 separated by a longitudinal wall 16 and having a medial transverse passage 20 containing a busbar 22 for connection to the individual breaker-units, which may be made as in Specification 555,511 and have operating dollies 30 protruding through apertures in the cover 34 and fibre liner 32. The bimetal strips 74 are secured to a mounting and connecting member 80 secured by a screw 86 and adjustment bolt 84 to a step on the base and extending so as to lie under lateral wings 22a, 22b of the busbar 22, so providing a rigid three-point support for the strips 74. Arc-confining barriers 100. 102 and fibre shields 104, 106 are slid into place in slots in the base 10, barriers 102 having vents 103. The busbar 22 may have an external connecting means 24 or be extended to a similar multiple breaker alongside it. By severing the busbar 22 along dotted lines 112, the two units on one side of the base may be insulated from those on the other, and either connecting piece may be connected by its fixing bolts 26a or 26b to a busbar in the cavity beneath.
