554,341. Coating with metals. PROTECTIVE METAL FINISHES, Ltd., and BERGSTEIN. G. K. Nov. 28, 1941, No. 15348. [Class 82 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] Non-conductive surfaces are prepared for electroplating by coating them, preferably after roughening, with a layer of varnish, softening the dried varnish layer by means of a solvent, and causing a layer of conductive particles which may be in suspension in the solvent, to adhere to the softened surface. The particles may consist of a zinc-lead alloy in powder form. A metallic deposit may be built up on the surface so prepared by treatment for instance with an acid solution of a copper salt, which may be followed by the electrodeposition of copper or other metal. Specification 554,370 is referred to.
