Abstract

554,302. Films; viscose compositions. DU PONT FILM MANUFACTURING CORPORATION. Dec. 12, 1941, No. 16087. Convention date, Dec. 14, 1940. [Class 2 (ii)] [Also in Group XX] A dilute caustic soda solution of p-hydroxybenzoic acid-formaldehyde resin is added to a viscose dope comprising water, cellulose xanthate and caustic soda, and the solution is flowed on to a glass plate, coagulated with ammonium sulphate and sodium sulphatesulphuric acid solutions and cleared with hot dilute sodium carbonate solution. The resultant film is stripped from the glass, softened with glycerol and dried under tension, and may be used in colour photography. (See Group XX.)
