Abstract

506,895. Artificial wool. CARLIER, J. Nov. 17, 1938, No. 33463. Convention date, Dec. 11, 1937. [Class 2 (ii)] Artificial wool and artificial fibres of high thermal capacity are prepared by mixing together at least two of the following solutions, spinning the mixture into hydrochloric acid solution, and insolubilizing the threads obtained, for example in glycerine formaldehyde. The solutions are (a) a colloidal solution of a non- thermally reactive fusible phenol-formaldehyde resin in an aliphatic or aromatic alcohol, a ketone, ethyl, butyl or amyl acetate, or tricresyl phosphate ; (b) a colloidal solution of calcium or phospho-calcium alginate in water containing sodimn carbonate ; (c) a colloidal alkaline solution of wool or wool waste ; and (d) a colloidal alkaline solution of casein.
