Abstract

A solution of (1) a colloid containing hydroxyl groups and (2) either a compound containing an aldehyde group, a polyethyleneimine, dicyandiamide or a diisocyanate is applied to a non-woven fibre tissue of natural or synthetic fibres containing hydroxyl groups, (1) and (2) being present in solution in ratios between 4 : 1-1 : 2 and the solution being applied in amount such as to render the tissue only temporarily water resistant. The solution may in addition contain softeners, fillers, pigments or disinfectants. Specified colloids containing hydroxyl groups are methyl and dimethylcellulose, oxaethylmethyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose and polyvinyl alcohol. Examples are given.
