Abstract

For the desulphurization of artificial silk on spools or as cakes, there is used a sodium sulphide solution containing 0,8 grammes of sodium sulphide per litre, and in any case not more than the equivalent of 1,5 grammes of caustic alkali per litre. With such weak solutions, difficulties due to swelling of the threads when washing by the pressure or vacuum methods, are avoided, and corrosion of the aluminium spools &c. does not take place.
