[Classes 20 (i) and 20 (iv)] The framing of a building comprises posts 1 having steel rods or tubes 3 enclosed by timber parts 4 with grooves to receive the cores, the parts 4 being clamped around the cores and glued together. The beams 2, 2<SP>1</SP> have similar metal cores 5 near the bottom surface, and the beams 2 have clamp sockets 6 to receive the projecting cores 5 and the upper ends of the projecting cores 3. The lower ends of cores 3 fit loosely into sockets 10 passing through floor concrete 13 into concrete walls 11 and are secured by filling the sockets with cement mortar. In constructing the building, the foundations 11, 12 and concrete 13 are first laid, then a brick chimney and the necessary pipes, conduits, and fittings for domestic services, and then the framing and walls, partitions and roof, as in Specification 554,265. Wall slabs 8 are provided with grooves 9 in upper and lower surfaces to receive dowels 14 which enter holes in the posts 1. Fillets 17 cover the joints between slabs and posts. The posts extend above a flat roof 18 to form a parapet, and guttering 21 is secured to the beam 21. Plywood flooring 22 is laid on beams 23 secured to fillets 24 in the concrete 13. Internal partitions are similar to the wall slabs.
