Building blocks and slabs, special shapes of ; flooring and ceiling blocks; slabs.-In concrete skeleton frames for structural purposes produced by assembling prepared longitudinal units such as columns, beams, and struts 5, 7, Fig. 1, connecting-pieces 6, 11, engage and unite all the longitudinal units meeting at a point so that the frame is ready for immediate use without needing any additional concreting or like operation in situ. Separate units or slabs are fitted into the skeleton for forming the walls, floors, roofs, staircases and heating appliances. The connecting-pieces are dowelled to the foundations 3, and the beams 5 and columns 7 engaged therewith. Hollow wall units or slabs 8, Fig. 4, comprising concrete blocks 8a and slabs enclosing filling material such as slag wool or rubble, are locked to the columns by material, for instance, oakum, inserted in channels 9, and floor units or slabs are placed between the beams 5. By means of connecting-pieces 11 the first floor is similarly completed. One form of connecting-piece is shown in plan in Fig. 6; pegs c, d, engage holes in the columns and beams, and dovetail grooves g house the shaped ends of the struts. The units for the floors comprise tongued and grooved boards 13<d>, Fig. 5, ceiling plates or the like forming finished surfaces mounted upon rectangular or other frames 13<b> with concrete or like filling material, and are supported by hooks or stirrups 13<c> which may be secured to the units before assembly or may be placed upon the beams 5 to receive the units. Cornice units 14 are fitted into grooves in the same way as the struts, and rafters 15, 16 connected by a ridge piece are engaged with the connecting pieces. The roof slabs are provided with strengthening ribs which engage with shoulders on the beams.
