Reinforced block-work walls and beams; girder floors.-For rapidly erecting concrete buildings, such as shell-proof military shelters, blocks a having E-shaped fillets on the upper and lower faces and provided with apertures D for reinforcing-rods e are piled vertically with the apertures D in register; after insertion of the rods e, the cavities are filled in with grouting. The walls may be bonded in any suitable way. Figs. 3, 4 and 5 show three successive courses of a wall two blocks thick. Fig. 7 shows a slightly different bond for a shelter with walls two and a half blocks thick. Reinforced beams h having horizontal perforations for tie-rods k are laid side by side to form the roof and floor. The upright rods e are grouted in vertical recesses i of the beams.
