Abstract

554,200. Galvanized wire &c. BRITISH ROPES, Ltd., and OATES, E. Nov. 21, 1941, No. 15032. [Class 41] Electro-galvanized wire &c. is brightened by subjection to the action of a solution of chromic acid containing sulphates in a proportion substantially greater than 10 grams per litre calculated as H 2 SO 4 , e.g. 10 to 50 grams per litre, for from 5 to 30 seconds. A single phase alternating current of from 2 to 4 volts is optionally employed with the tank forming the second electrode, the time of treatment being then reduced.
