Abstract

554,198. Filters. VOKES, C. G. Nov. 19, 1941, No. 14901. [Class 46] [Also in Group XXVIII] A filter unit, Fig. 1, adapted to be slid into a casing, Fig. 4, for insertion in a pipe-line or the like comprises a box-like panel 1 of metal, fibre board &c. framing a pleated filtering screen 2 and around which is secured felt or like padding 5 extending at 5a beyond the panel at the inlet and outlet sides. A cover 6, secured by a metal band 7 with a toggle clip 8 to the panel, carries a handle 9 and a pivoted leaf spring 10 for engaging hooks 12 on the casing. The panel may be inserted into the casing from either side, the padding 5a engaging the inside and outside of the casing at the inner and outer ends respectively. A second cover may be used at the opposite end. Alternatively, the casing may be provided with an aperture at one side only and the padding 5a at the inner end of the panel be dispensed with. In this case, a separate spring-pressed cover is employed and a fabric strap is secured to the outer end of the panel to facilitate withdrawal. The casing may be provided with a plug or flap for the removal of dust &c.
