Abstract
554,193. Floor centering supports. FROMSON, B. W. Oct. 21, 1941, No. 13520. [Class 20 (ii)] Bearers or supports for bridging spaces and to carry centering for casting floors in situ are formed as openwork trusses comprising upper and lower-booms interconnected by a bent bar welded thereto and forming spaced lattice members, and separate end portions slidable with respect to the bearer, whereby the bearer may be supported on opposed walls, these end portions being provided with means to level their upper surfaces. The bearer portion comprises upper and lower booms 10, 11 interconnected by a bent metal rod 12, welded at its bends to the booms to form a lattice truss. Slidably supported in bearings 14, 15 on the ends of the bearer are members 16 with projecting end portions 16a adapted to rest on the upper edges of walls and support the bearer, the span of which is adjustable by sliding the end portions in the bearings. The end members may be secured by screws 17, or by bolts passing through registering apertures, and may be lightened by apertures 18. In order to bring the general level of the ends on a level with the upper surface of the main bearer, removable clips 19 are positioned thereon. In a modification, the upper boom is formed tubular and the adjustable ends which carry angular bearing portions are formed solid or tubular with levelling rings and adapted to slide in the ends of the upper boom. Flat metal plates may be welded to the upper booms to stiffen them or ties may be positioned between adjacent bearers. Specifications 6250/11, [Class 20 (ii)], and 405,279 are referred to.
