Abstract
554,023. Book-keeping appliances. HEDIGER, A. Jan. 8, 1942, No. 314. Convention date, March 12, 1941. [Class 16] In an appliance for enabling entries to be made simultaneously in the cash column of a journal sheet and in any desired column of a group register sheet below it, the journal sheet J, Figs. 9 and 10, is held on a stationary writing-plate 5, which is slotted to accommodate a nail 8, which has its upper surface nearly flush with that of the plate 5 and forms part of the writing- surface. The group register sheet G is secured at its ends to a slide 2 movable below the writing-plate, and the intermediate part of the sheet passes through slots 7<SP>1</SP> at the sides of the rail 8 and over the rail. The journal sheet J and a superposed account sheet K are held on the plate 5 by clamping-bars 9, 10, and carbon paper drawn from rolls at the head of the appliance passes between the sheets. The slide 2 is held in adjusted position with any desired column of the sheet G over the rail 8 by notched spring locking members 50, Fig. 5, on the underside of the slide, which co-operates with a stepped series of stops 52 on the base of the appliance. The locking-member corresponding to the column required is depressed by the action of one of a series of cam-rods 32 operated by knobs 31, so that a stop 52 lies in its path, the cam rod being retained by a latch 46. The slide is then moved by hand until the locking-member which has bevelled sides, snaps over the stop and holds the slide in position. An indicator facilitates the setting of the locking-members. The operation of another of the knobs 31 releases the locking- member previously set. The writing-plate 5 is pivoted at its upper edge, so that it can be raised to give access to the slide 2. The appliance is supported in an inclined position on foldable legs, and may be provided at the side with an additional pivoted writing-plate, which carries a pen-rest and a holder for rubber stamps.
