Abstract
553,805. Thermionic valves. PATELHOLD PATENTVERWERTUNGS & ELEKTROHOLDING AKT.-GES. Dec. 30, 1941, No. 16809. Convention date, Dec. 30, 1940. [Class 39 (i)] In artificially - cooled demountable transmitting tubes, the ring 6 by which the anode 3 is jointed to the associated parts of the tube, is connected to the anode by a thin walled member 7 or 8 of lower heat conductivity than the anode so that the loading of the tube may be increased without impairing the seals. The anode is preferably of copper, and the intermediate member mav be or iron, chrome iron &c. and in plane or corrugated form. The tube is completed by rings 11, 12, 13 carrying the grid and cathode, and jointed by insulating tubes 23, 14, 15. The evacuating pump 18 may form a base for the tube to which it is connected by an insulator 20. Cooling is effected by providing the anode 3, and the rings 6, 11, 12, 13 with radiating fins 4, 5, 10, 16, 17, and surrounding the tube by a casing 22 through which air is driven by a fan 21 disposed either axially or laterally of the casing. Alternatively, the ribs may be hollow and cooling water circulated therethrough, the inlet being in the neighbourhood of the member 7, 8, and the stream divided so as to leave at opposite ends of the tube. When the intermediate member 7 is corrugated, ties 9 are preferably provided between the ribs 4, 5.
