Abstract

553,549. Draw benches T. T. (GROUP SERVI CES). Ltd.. and EVANS. D. W. T. Nov. 21. 1941. No. 15028. [ Class 83 (iv)] Sliding jaws of draw bench carriages are actuated to grip the work end of a pulley pin attached thereto by automatically operated lever mechanism. The jaws c slide in inclined ways in the carriage a and are grooved at j to receive the end of a lever i mounted by a rectangular recess m on the squared part of a spinate k carrying a pinion o meshing with teeth on a rack bar t influenced by a spring v in the jaw-releasing direction. At the end of the return travel of the carriage the end of the rack bar enters a hole x in the die holder and a notch 2 is engaged by the end of an adjustably loaded spring plunger y. On the forward travel the rack bar is held back causing the lever to turn and move the jaws c to grip the pin d. Intergeared sleeves p journalled in bosses on the lever i. engage tapped holes in the spindle to provide for lifting the lever free of the notch in the jaws c when the latter are to be removed or changed'. When the jaws engage the pin the bar t pulls out of the hole x.
