Abstract

547,496. Drilling-machine attachments. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., SELLORS, W., and SEARLE, G. W. Feb. 28, 1941, No. 2747. [Class 83 (iii)] An attachment for a drilling machine to permit the performance of routing operations comprises a base plate 6 securable to the machine table and a table member 2 which may be fed towards the cutter by treadle-operated mechanism and quickly returned to its normal position. The base carries blocks 5 which support a frame 3, 4. Wedge members 7 slidable in the frame are formed with rack teeth 9 and may be actuated by pinions 10 on a cross shaft 11 which is actuated by a pawl 35 from an adjustable treadle-rod 31. A locking pawl 36 is also provided. The table 2 has rollers bearing on the wedge surfaces and is further guided by pillars 13 engaging in supports 14. The maximum table lift may be determined by an adjustable abutment 20 secured to the table and coacting with a stop 21 fixed to the frame plate 4. The table carries a guide pin 22 engageable with a templet. The pin may be withdrawn by a lever 24 actuated by a cam on a spindle 27 operated by a hand lever. The spindle 27 is connected by a rod 30 to a masking device for the pawls so that when the lever is actuated to withdraw the pin the pawls are both lifted and the table is lowered by the spring return of the wedge members 7, this movement being cushioned by a dash-pot cylinder.
