553,521. Paper &c. containers for foodstuffs &c. GEE, L. F., and GEE, Junr., J. A. Feb. 10, 1942, No. 1733. [Classes 66 and 125 (iii)] Foodstuff and other containers of waxed or otherwise treated paper or like more or less frangible material, such as millboard or cardboard of the kind provided with a recess constituting an anchorage for an inturned flange of a closure, has the lid b provided with a channel d surrounding a dish-like piece c, the rim of the body taking in the channel. The part b<SP>2</SP> of the skirt b<SP>1</SP> of the lid b may be turned in mechanically or it may engage resiliently beneath the shoulder, or the skirt may be coated with adhesive so that if moistened prior to application to the container it will contract on drying and engage beneath the shoulder. In all these alternatives on reclosing the container the part b<SP>2</SP> of flange b<SP>1</SP> engages resiliently. The closure may be covered with metal foil or with transparent material and coincident apertures may be formed in the lid and dish.
