Abstract
553,161. Retractive switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 7, 1942, No. 12611. Convention date, Sept. 12, 1941. [Class 38 (v)] A door-operated switch, particularly for a lamp in an oven, is actuated by the expansion and contraction of a spring when the door is opened or shut. As shown, a bridging contact 26 is kept from fixed contacts 25, towards which it is biassed by a spring 32a, by the pressure exerted between two plates 33, 34 clamped between turns of a spring 17, until door is opened a sufficient distance. This spring acts partly to counter balance the weight of a downwardly opening door, and also to press on a catch for positioning the door partly open.
