[Class 2 (iii)] In processes for the production of a plastic mass in which a polymerized organic compound such as polymethylmethacrylate, in powder form, is mixed with a liquid, e.g. styrene, to ensure rapid absorption of the styrene by the powdered polymethylmethacrylate and the production of a smooth, uniform plastic mass, the polymer is employed in the form of thin flakes which may be obtained by passing the commercial powder, in a thin uniform stream, between cooled metal rolls at a short distance apart.
