Abstract
565,211. Moulding graphite, metal powders, &c., in plunger -and - mould machines. AKTIEBOLAGET HAMMARBYLAMPAN, and HEUBERGER, J. July 24, 1942, No. 10372. [Class 87 (ii)] As the plunger 2 descends and compresses a mass of graphite, 'hard alloy powders or other material contained in a mould 4, a helical surface 3 on the plunger bores into the material as the plunger revolves on bearings 1. Alternatively, the helical surface may be on the inside of the mould, the mould being rotatable, or helical surfaces may be on both the plunger and the mould, both being rotatable. The hollow article formed may be a mould for making twist drills or milling cutters.
