Abstract

552,045. Controlling motor vehicles. BOYDELL & CO., Ltd., E., and COLDWELL, J. D. July 14, 1941, No. 2422/43. Divided out of 551,403. [Class 79 (v)] In a tipping-truck or other vehicle having alternative and oppositely facing driving positions so as to be equally suitable for driving in either direction the brake or like pedal is rotatable from one driving position to the other about a vertical axis and is connected to the brake &c. by means rotatable on the said axis. In the construction shown the driver's seat 10 is rotatable on a turntable 12 about a vertical axis A-A and the clutch, brake and accelerator pedals 17, 18, 19 are mounted on shafts 21, 22 rotatable with the driver's seat. The brake pedal 18 is mounted on the shaft 21 and one end is connected by a swivel 32 to an adjustable vertical link 30 normally lying in the axis A-A. The lower end of the link 30 is connected to a brake-operating lever 31 mounted on the chassis. The clutch pedal 17 is mounted on the shaft 22 and its rear end is bifurcated to engage trunnions 33 on a collar 34 rotatable on a vertical tube 35 co-axial with the axis A-A. The tube 35 is also connected by trunnions 36 to a clutch-operating lever 37 on the chassis. The accelerator pedal 19 is mounted on the shatf 21 and its rear end carries a roller 38 normally lying in the axis A-A and adapted to engage a lever 39 which actuates the throttle (not shown).
