551,639. Domestic fireplaces. HENDERSON, H. I. P. Aug. 29, 1941, No. 11063. [Class 126] Rectangular refractory blocks at the sides of a domestic firegrate support a grid, bars, or a perforated refractory bridge piece on which a cooking utensil may be placed. The refractory blocks are made in sections 2, 2a having grooves or recesses in their upper surfaces or are formed at the sides facing one another with a series of grooves to enable the height of the grid or bars to be adjusted. To prevent packing of the fuel on the grate the front surface of the firebrick back is formed of concave or concavo-convex shape, the lower edge extending forward farther than the upper edge.
